New Website Design

So I've redesigned the website... Again...

Why? I had 20 minutes to spare, and got caught up doing this. 2 hours, and a crate of red bull down, I have this. It's not perfect. Somethings aren't to my liking at the moment, but I'll change this when I have a chance.

I haven't put in any cool features at the moment.. I plan to add an RSS feed, and possibly some Facebook integration, but I think I'll do the latter after my exams.

I'm in Washington D.C. at the moment, but we're heading off to Pennsylvania soon, and I've got the feeling that internet access there will be less available than here and in NY.

Exciting things on the agenda are the 0.97 release of aMSN (that was meant to be on 01/04 but was delayed). New features include a brand new contact list implementation, and a new login window. We also (or will by the release) fully support viewing contacts MSN Spaces data (with both the contact card, and the inline implementations).

Also coming round the corner are my AS (Advanced Subsidiary) examinations at the end of May. These will determine my University offers, and are pretty important for my free time next year (if I muck them up, I'll have to spend a third of next year re-learning old modules (in my free time!)).

What are my plans with regard to aMSN in the near future? Well I hope to devote more time to the project after my exams. I'm conscious that I've been lazy with regard to coding anything lately. I've manned the forums everyday however, and I'll continue to do that. One of the features I'd like to implement is display pictures stored by email rather than by sha hash. This would speed up the dpbrowser extension no end, and would make it easier to find display pictures from a specific contact. I would also like to start work on a Tcl<->XUL bridge for amsn2. This is necessary if we are going to use XUL (the same cross platform toolkit as used by firefox) for amsn2's GUI.

I've had a couple of crazy ideas after a trip to Cambridge too. I think that writing a facial feature tracking program would be fun. (But crazily hard!). This might be something for me to aspire to whilst in University. Also just for fun, I thought that writing a system to control traffic flow in a user generated environment would be fun too.

Oh and the last idea of mine, is to write an online translation tool for aMSN, showing changed keys, and providing an easy to use interface for translators. There isn't a time-scale on this, but again, I will focus on it after my exams.
